 LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Lily Albert (DSLCC) Annual Scholarship Criteria

The scholarship applicant must:

1.  Be female, 30 years or older, a US citizen, and have established residency in the

commonwealth of Virginia for at least one year.

2.  Be accepted into an accredited  program or course of study at Dabney S.   Lancaster Community College.  

3.   Be expected to complete her course of study within twelve months of receiving this

scholarship. '  

4.  Demonstrate a critical need for financial assistance in order to have the opportunity to

upgrade her present job skills and/or complete here program of study for career entry

and/or advancement, and

5.   Have a definite plan to use the career training in order to advance in her current

career, train for a new career, or enter re-enter the job market.

A scholarship application must be submitted to the Foundation Committee. The application consists of personal information, employment status, income, previous education, essay portion discussing three career goals, and how current study program will help in career advancement.

All money is paid directly to the school.

 High School Scholarship Criteria

The scholarship applicant must:

1.  Be a female senior,

2.   Be accepted at an institution of high learning, and

3.   Be enrolled in a business and/or professional curriculum.

                       A scholarship application must be submitted to the Foundation Committee. The application consists of personal information, class ranking, planned college curriculum, name of school, future goals, extra curriculum and/or work activities during high school, and financial need. The application must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Scholarships are awarded to both a Covington high school student and an Alleghany high school student. All money is paid directly to the school where the student is registered for the Fall semester.
